Bjarni Valdimar Tryggvason (September 21, – April 5, ) was an Icelandic-born Canadian engineer and a NRC/CSA astronaut.

Early life
Tryggvason was born in Reykjavík, Iceland, on September 21, [1] He moved to Canada with his parents when he was eight years old,[2] and grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia.
After attending high school in Richmond, British Columbia, he obtained a degree in engineering physics from the University of British Columbia in , and subsequently completed postgraduate work in engineering with specialization in applied mathematics and fluid dynamics at the University of Western Ontario.[3]
